Don’t know how sensitive your mouse is? Do not worry, here is a guide on the , how to test the DPImouse.
It is quite easy to detect the DPI index of anymouse. But this requires a certain amount of trial and error.
There are four simple ways to find out. Although I hate one of them, the MS Paint method. However, the easiest way is to check the product description.
Just try to find the DPI in the product description box. However, if you have purchased an unmarked mouse, this may not be the best solution for you.
How do I check the DPI of my mouse?
To learn more about DPI, read the product specifications or use MS Paint or the online DPI analyzer to determine the DPI value of your mouse.
If you don’t buy an unmarked mouse, you are likely to find the DPI value on the product packaging. If you can’t find him, don’t worry.
Here are some methods you can follow:
- Highlight the product field.
- Using MS Paint to learn DPI
- Use the online DPI analyzer.
- Check the DPI value in the mouse control program.
1. Put a cross in the product field
Like I said, that’s the exact meaning. The mouse I bought that day is not marked and I found no DPI value on the box.
However, there is a DPI button with which I can only change the DPI value according to my preferences, which is very cool. And it works!
If you have now bought a branded or even unbranded mouse, there is a chance that the DPI value will be written on the box in which the mouse was delivered.
You can also view the specifications of the mouse on the official website. Most brands will have the sensitivity and DPI mentioned above.
It’s a pity for me, and I couldn’t find the information on the box, but you could, and it will save you time to figure it out for yourself, as I will show you in Methods 2 and 3.
2. Use MS paint to detect DPI.
It’s a strange method I learned in college. Remember the PPI? That makes sense.
DPI means dpi. It is also called PPI, which is pixels per inch.
Seriously, it took me a few hours to figure it out. For example, how do you measure this thing?
The first time I tried, my IPR was only 300. А ?
Okay, but I didn’t give up and decided to keep trying, and I finally realized. Eventually I found out that my IPR is about 756.
How do I use MS Paint to control DPI?
- Switch off the mouse gear.
- Open MS Paint.
- Make sure the page is 100% enlarged.
- Move the cursor from 0-5 pixels to only 2-3 inches.
- Do it three times.
- Average distances (x-axis).
- Voilà! That’s your C.P.I.
How do I disable the mouse acceleration in Windows 10?
Don’t panic, it also works for Windows 7 and 8.
- Go to the control panel.
- Click on Hardware and Sound.
- Go to the mouse.
- Click on the Pointer Options tab.
- Clear the Improve Pointer Accuracy checkbox.
It’s done. That was easy!
3. Online DPI Analyzer (calculator)
It doesn’t matter if you work with Windows 10 or Mac OS Mojave. This thing works for everyone because it’s browser-based.
We use the DPI online analyzer or thecalculator. It is free and easy to use and is not as confusing as the MS Paint method, but works the same way.
Follow these brief instructions:
- Go to the I.P.D. Analyzer.
- You see a scale, just follow the instructions.
- Once the test is completed, the tool will show you your PID.
It is easy to use and slightly more accurate than the strange and controversial MS Paint method. There are many online DPI testers of this type, but I found the Mouse-Sensitivity.comDPI tester to be the best.
Free, no obligation.
4. DPI verification of the mouse control program.
Most mice of elite brands have some kind of software or application to monitor DPI and other indicators.
Here’s an example of Logitech G Hub software that lets you control things like DPI, sensitivity, and other advanced things. If your mouse supports them or has software to control them.
It’s easy to find out your true IPR without too much effort.
Mine has buttons to change the DPI, which is good for changing the DPI spontaneously during the game. However, if your mouse is equipped with software, this is a good way to get to know DPI.
If you buy a cheap mouse or even a generic mouse, you may want to know more about DPI.
Honestly, I was just checking because I was curious. The unbranded mouse I bought in my local shop had no specifications, so I had to use other methods to test the DPI.
However, I am the one who only plays shooting games, such as Battlefield 5 and Apex Legends. Normally I don’t pay much attention to DPI and just adjust the sensitivity to what I prefer to use.
But if you are determined to know your PID, this is the best guide to help you.
